SIBU: The wife of the businessman who was brutally killed on Tuesday morning was yesterday ordered by the Sessions Court here to be remanded for seven days to facilitate police investigation.

Judge Indra Ayub ordered the woman remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The woman, a Chinese national, is to appear in court again on Jan 11.

When contacted by the investigation officer yesterday, her family said they would consider getting a lawyer if she was charged with murder. She was brought to Sibu Hospital for a blood test following the remand order.

Timber and shipping businessman Ling Tong Hock, 36, his mother Leong Nyuk Lan, 76, his two children David Ling Chei Qi, 10 and Amy Ling Zi Jiun, 7, were brutally killed at their double-storey terrace house in RTM Road between 7am and 7.30am on Tuesday. His eight-year-old son, Kelvin Ling Chei You, suffered slash wounds on the neck and back.

He is in critical condition, and was flown by helicopter to Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching yesterday.

Press reports quoted the police chief here ACP Shafie Ismail as saying that the killing was unlikely to be a robbery as nothing was taken from the house.

He said the case had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

It was also reported that the CCTV camera installed in front of the house failed to capture the images of the perpetrators.
